Reggie Townley teaches Vinyasa Krama in the Krishnamacharya-Desikachar lineage. His yoga is heavily influenced by the work of Erich Shiffmann, through Reggie’s main teacher, Debbi Murphy. Other teacher’s who have made a profound impact are Jo Tastula and Julian Walker. Reggie first encountered yoga and meditation in 1997, and is also a long time student of Aikido, which informs his practice and teaching. Currently he is completing his teacher training through the Shanti Yoga School, and moving into their five hundred hour program, with the intent to specialize in yoga therapy and advanced vinyasa training. Reggie is also completing his M.F.A. in Creative Writing at Boise State University.
Reggie’s classes focus on breath driven movement as a vehicle for deep inquiry, and encourage an exploration of yoga poses through each individual’s inner awareness. By allowing the poses to ride on the breath, the practitioner is able to explore movement and alignment safely, starting with one’s current state of being as the medium for growth, healing, and understanding.
