I believe that yoga is a sacred gift, and I am honored to share the practice with students at any stage in the journey. My intention as a teacher is to guide students to see and believe in their own highest potential, using the body, breath, and yoga asana as a vehicle. I hope to create a challenging, safe and loving space that inspires transformation in the body, mind, and heart. I vow to honor diversity, to teach with integrity, and I strive to always teach from the heart. I believe that my students are my greatest teachers, and I find great joy in and am continuously humbled by sharing the experience of yoga, which I deeply love.
I have been practicing yoga for 12 years. Many things in my life led me to the practice of yoga. I struggled with body image and eating disorders for most of my adolescence and early adulthood. Unexpectedly, the path of yoga and the wonderful teachers I have had introduced me to a way of being non-violent with myself and my body, a way that asks me to love myself just as I am. This path for me has been a slow, challenging, deeply healing journey into relationship with my Self, and the journey continues!! I am honored to share with others in hopes that they may also discover the healing qualities of yoga and the strength in their own hearts as well.
I believe that good alignment, a playful attitude, intention, and love, are the most important ingredients for an expansive, safe, and joyful yoga experience. My student is willing to both work hard and listen deeply. My student is curious about their own potential, and wants to safely explore their edges. Students should expect some flow yoga and some focus on alignment. As my teacher Christina Sell says, we will not only work on poses, we will also let the poses work on us.
I have studied and practiced many forms of yoga, and I honor and hold deep gratitude for them all. Most of my formal training is in Anusara Yoga®, and I am a Certified Anusara-Inspired™ Yoga teacher. I have studied with wonderful teachers in Idaho, Thailand, Utah, and Arizona and have taken many workshops around the country. Darren Rhodes and Christina Sell are my two primary teachers, and two of the most influential and inspiring people in my life.
I look forward to seeing you on the path!
